Competitive Eating Slideshow
This year, 22-year-old Joey Chestnut of Santa Cruz won Nathan's hot dog eating contest at Coney Island. At a qualifying event in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, the engineering student becoming the first American to eat 50 dogs in a 12 minute contest. Chestnut finished third at last year's July 4th contest, and in recent months, he's set records in grilled cheese sandwiches (47 in 10 minutes), fried asparagus (6.25 pounds in 10 minutes) and waffles (18.5 in ten minutes).
