Hollywood Loves a Disaster
Earlier disaster films pointed to another dubious advance in technology -- nuclear weaponry. While Godzilla is a 50-foot lizard, the Herculean reptile first reared his fire-breathing head in Japan, not long after World War II, and the beast was said to be the product of radioactive fallout.
