A Very Brady Pimple

According to "Healthy Skin, Healthy Outlook" literature, acne most frequently occurs when hair follicles become clogged by skin cells that block the opening of pores. If the blocked pore is not visible, it forms a whitehead; if the pore is open and visible, it forms a blackhead.

Red, inflamed papules and pustules are formed when acne bacteria break through the whitehead or blackhead. The most common form of acne, acne vulgaris, is a constellation of whiteheads, blackheads, papules and pustules.

‘Pork Chops and Apple Sauce’

But will America accept Knight, a twice-divorced 43-year-old, as a messenger of good skin? We all remember Peter Brady as that somewhat nondescript middle child. He lacked Greg's "super-groovy" confidence and Bobby's boyish charm.

Peter just couldn't get over the fact that he rescued that girl when the toy store shelf fell and he heroically pushed her out of the way. We TV viewers suffered through his Humphrey Bogart "pork chops and apple sauce" phase. And his model volcano never seemed to ooze lava properly. Rather, it spewed all over Marcia's party dress.

Now, we have to take medical advice from the guy. "I think I can get an important message across," he says. "People of all ages are always coming up to me and saying, 'I grew up with you.' I have an opportunity to speak to people about something very real."

Knight, who doesn't have children, was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder later in life, and it's left him with a desire to help out teenagers.

"You can compare ADD to a skin disorder in that it can ruin a kid's self-image if he or she doesn't deal with it," Knight says.

Knight says he had to struggle harder than the other kids to learn his lines, and he never knew why. He left Hollywood behind to develop and sell computer equipment. But being a former Brady is pretty much a never-ending job. The show spawned two big-screen movies, a short-lived variety show, three TV specials, and then there are the fan conventions and personal appearances. Through the miracle of syndication, the show has aired in at least 55 countries.
