Last Laughs (and Sappy Moments) From Sitcom Finales
Some shows have opted for surreal endings. "Roseanne" wrapped up in 1997 with an ending that revealed that the show's final season was all a dream. Viewers were led to believe that Roseanne's TV husband had survived a heart attack and the Conner family had won the lottery. In the end, it's revealed that Roseanne had created this fiction as therapy after she had become a widow. It was a downer that angered many viewers.
