The Big Shake: 'Hands Across America' 20 Years Later
One of America's biggest -- and strangest -- charitable events, "Hands Across America," marks its 20th anniversary. Hollywood's biggest stars, political leaders, and 5 million other Americans joined hands on Memorial Day weekend in 1986, trying to form a massive human line from New York to California. Everyone from the Rev. Billy Graham to Barbra Streisand and Prince joined the event, which eventually raised $20 million for charity. Here, comic Lily Tomlin lends a big hand.
