Fritzy is Frederico Giovanelli, 69, who was tried several times in the 1986 slaying of a New York police detective. He was finally acquitted in 1994. But in May, he was arrested on extortion charges in connection with a $2.5 million auto-theft ring.
Frankie is Frank "Frankie California" Condo, a reputed lieutenant to former Genovese family boss Vincent "the Chin" Gigante.
Jesselli says the conversations are the result of FBI wiretaps in 1985 and 1986 for an intended RICO prosecution. But the G-men apparently got a lot more than they bargained for.
In one installment, Frankie complains about his waning libido. As he puts it, "You know, I ain't been humpin' nothin I been a little mushy." Of course, you don't get to be a "made guy" by being stupid or advertising your shortcomings. Maybe Frankie's having a little problem in the bedroom. Or maybe he just put one over on the FBI.
